What is metabolic health and why does it matter? 


Metabolic health is the combination of your blood sugar levels, waist circumference, blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides. In this transformative experience we focus on glucose levels (aka blood sugar levels).  


In the short term, high levels of glucose in your blood can make you feel hungry and crave sugar; preventing you from losing weight, affecting your energy levels and sleep, and impacting your memory and focus. In the long term, having high levels of glucose can place you at risk for chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.

What is the experience and how does it benefit me? 


Under the guidance of a physician and wellness and nutrition coach, you will wear a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) for two weeks to learn how your food and lifestyle choices affect your body. 


A CGM is a medical device you wear on your arm that measures your blood glucose (sugar) levels 24/7.  Individuals just starting out on their health journeys, recreational athletes, and even professional athletes are using CGM data to optimize their performance in life, work, and on the field!

Why does Body Composition matter?


When you step on a  scale it tells you how much you weigh, but it does not reveal your lean body mass and bone health.  Recent scientific literature has revealed that lean body mass, body fat percentage, and bone health are three of the most important predictors of how long you will live. 


Did you know? 


  • Despite being a healthy weight, high body fat percentage can lead to metabolic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. 

  • Starting at the age of 30 (unless you perform resistance training regularly), you will lose 3-8% of your muscle mass per decade which leads to difficulty performing daily activities or sports, slower walking speeds, and increased risk of falls. 

  • Most women don’t realize they have osteoporosis until they sustain a bone fracture. 

  • It’s never too late (or too early) to build muscle and bone! 


What is the experience and how does it benefit me? 


You will first receive a DXA scan from one of our partnered locations. A DXA scan is a quick and accurate method to measure lean body mass, body fat percentage, and bone mineral density.  Based on the data we will: 

  • create the most optimal nutrition plan for your body. 

  • recommend a personalized resistance and cardio training routine to maintain or improve your lean body mass and body fat percentage. 

  • recommend a strategy to improve or maintain your bone health.

  • After you sign up, A DW team member will email you with information on how to schedule your DXA scan

  • Receive your DXA scan at one of our partnered locations closest to you. The appointment will take approximately 30 minutes.

  • Meet with your DW physical therapist and wellness and nutrition coach via Zoom to review the results of your DXA scan

  • Receive a personalized summary document about your DXA results and an action plan to help you improve or maintain your body composition and bone health

The standard adult yearly physical typically includes bloodwork that is generic and limited. This DW precision-medicine experience offers a blood biomarker workup that is comprehensive and tailored to the client’s individual needs. We expand the focus to include advanced nutrient, hormonal and metabolic panels to provide unique insights and recommendations that will help you optimize your health, longevity and fitness.

Do you want to lose weight and look and feel your best? For clients that meet certain criteria, we use a safe, evidence-based, and effective weight management medication that works by curbing your appetite. Over the course of this one-month experience, while taking the medication, you will learn how to create healthy habits to maintain your weight loss and reduce your risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. This experience is guided by our team of physicians, registered dietitians, and wellness and nutrition coaches. We work together as a team to help you meet your weight loss goals.

  • Case review by a DW Registered Dietitian.

  • Two zoom calls with your wellness and nutrition coach to develop healthy habits to maintain your weight loss.
